Investigation Energy
presented by Jonathon Barnes, from COSI on Wheels
Everyday, we face many kinds of challenging energy choices. Campers explored energy choices through many hands-on activities dealing with real-life issues & choices. DR. Kilowat, (Jonathan Barnes), taught campers about creating energy with both renewable and non-renewable resources,. Students tested the power of wind and learned about energy conservation, as well as worked to complete a circuit that "energized" a Segway two wheeled vehicle. Campers also participated in demonstrations to see how energy can save the planet.
The presentation was awsome and held EVERY camper's attention throughout the afternoon. Among other things, they learned how much electricity is wasted just by letting your appliances plugged in, how much gas larger vehicles consume as opposed to hybrid vehicles, they learned about renewable sources of fossil fuels and hopefully instilled a sense of responsibility for the future of this earth.

On July 21st, the teens and staff along with volunteers from the Cincinnati Police Department will depart on the 12th annual River Trek. This exciting week will find the teens canoeing and camping from the Little Miami River to Public Landing. River Trek servers as a coming of age program for our teens. We have seen many teens leave the program at the end of the week more confident in their approach to life's challenges. We are fortunate to have two Cincinnati Police Officers to help guide the teens throughout their endeavors. Several teens have returned as Peer Leaders and served as leaders and mentors to the new group.
